It's over 4,000 square kilometres of outdoor playground right on Calgary's doorstep.  It's home to year-round adventure - fishing, mountain biking, hiking, horse trekking, skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding and much more. It's Kananaskis Country.

Kananaskis Country (or K-Country to the locals) includes the towns of Bragg Creek and Canmore - but it's the Highway 40 corridor taking you deep into K-Country that most associate with Kananaskis.

Those travelling in an RV will find ample opportunities for camping in K-Country with both serviced and unserviced Kananaskis campgrounds in Bow Valley Provincial Park and along the Highway 40 corridor. With five provincial parks, four wildland provincial parks, one ecological reserve and several provincial recreation areas within the boundaries of Kananaskis, Alberta, there's never a shortage of recreational opportunities. In both winter and summer, the scenery is stunning - it's a more quiet, reflective place, away from the masses found in neighbouring Banff National Park.

Winter in K-Country brings its own magic. Mount Nakiska is an ideal mountain for families and those learning to ski. 2-hour to full-day dog sledding tours can be booked through a number of providers and the area has some well-maintained snowshoe trails.

If your're looking for the same spectacular scenery offered in nearby Banff National Park without the crowds, Kananaskis is where you'll find it.

Please note: Purchase of a Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required for all visitors to Kananaskis Country. This does not include the town of Canmore.
