Arguably the most photographed lighthouse in Canada, Peggy’s Point Lighthouse was built in 1915 and more than 100 years later its light still serves as a beacon to maritime traffic along the shores of Peggy’s Cove.
Peggy's Cove is an easy drive from our Halifax RV Rental location and often the first stop for Guests on their Maritimes motorhome holiday.
The village in which the lighthouse is located remains an active fishing community with colourful houses perched atop of boulders along the wave-washed shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
Enjoy wandering across the rocks and around the village. The shoreline can be subject to rogue waves so read the signs and keep off the black rocks.
Peggy's Cove was named after the sole survivor of a shipwreck along its rugged coastline. Shipwrecks are, however, not the only disasters memorialized here. A stone monument 2km from Peggy’s Cove remembers the passengers and crew of Swissair Flight 111 which crashed into the sea off Peggy's Cove while flying from New York to Geneva. It is a beautifully laid out site where you can reflect and feel the peace and tranquility of your surroundings.
From Peggy's Cove, continue your drive around St Margarets Bay, perhaps next heading through picturesque Mahone Bay and on to Lunenburg.
