The more accessible parts are located along the 56km stretch of Highway 60 where you’ll find a number of campgrounds and trails, but the real essence of Algonquin is in its interior – maple hills, rocky ridges and thousands of lakes – and the only way to get there is by canoe or on foot.
Fall finds the park awash with colour as cooling temperatures bring change to the leaves of thousands of maples in the park, creating a kaleidoscope of colour as far as the eye can see.
While fall may be the most colourful, the park is a popular place to visit year round. If you plan to rent an RV to visit this spectacular park, keep in mind that campgrounds fill up quickly and reservations are recommended in Summer and Fall.
