A popular vacation destination for both visitors and locals, the Saguenay region of Quebec is home to some of the province’s most spectacular scenery.

Pride of the area is the Saguenay Fjord, one of the most southerly in the Northern Hemisphere.

At the western end of the fjord, the Saguenay River continues its journey, flowing into Lac Saint-Jean. Small towns and historic places surround this lake’s shoreline and outdoor recreational activities abound in Pointe-Taillon National Park. From kayaking, sailing and surfing to dog sledding, ice fishing and Nordic skiing, this region has it all.

Circumnavigation of Lac Saint-Jean along Highway 169 is easy by RV. The roads are good and take you to some must-stop attractions. Step back in time at Val Jalbert Historical village, a company town of the early 1900s centred around the pulp production industry. Half an hour away in Saint-Felicien, Quebec's most visited zoo puts you in the cages, allowing the animals to roam freely. This award-winning 'wild' zoo focuses its attention on North American animals and the caged buses take visitors around the park.

In both summer and winter, loads of activities will keep you entertained - or maybe you just want to just kick back, relax and soak in the ambience of this very special place.
